Our History

1992

Our small Wisconsin-based chain, Wildwood Theatres, opens a new complex called the Rock Theatres in Janesville, WI near the business district of the northern Milton Avenue corridor.

1998

Wildwood Theatres opens a multiplex cinema called Movies 10 at the back of the new Pine Tree Plaza strip mall.

2009

The owner of Wildwood Theatres seeks permission from the City of Janesville to expand its Movies 10 complex in Pine Tree Plaza at 3100 Deerfield Dr. (our current location).

Wildwood Theatres was on the cutting edge of the Digital Cinema transformation, becoming one of the first theatre chains to convert entire facilities from film to 4K Sony Digital Cinema projectors, featuring Real D 3D, just in time for the release of Avatar.

2010

Movies 10 was expanded to fit 16 screens, with the building holding a total 1,980 theater seats!

2020

While being closed for over a year during the pandemic Wildwood Theatres worked hard to improve the facility by remodeling the old video game arcade into the Red Carpet Lounge, a full cocktail bar offering a full variety of reasonably priced adult beverages to enjoy either while socializing in the lounge area or in specific theatres while enjoying a movie.

2021

In December, an official name change to Movies 16: Janesville was established and we developed a brand new website to improve our customers’ experience. Our focus was to make it easier to find out what is movies are playing, coming soon, and for you to provide us with feedback.

Why the Name Change?

While many Janesville residents still know our theater as Movies 10, or simply “the movie theater,” we have officially changed our name to Movies 16: Janesville. The need for a new name became evident as our theater expanded from 10 to 16 screens and became the sole focus of Wildwood Theatres. We hope to continue to be a stronghold of excitement, laughter, tears, and everything in between for you and your friends and family for years to come.
